Conference ACTA 60 cancelled
Dear colleagues,
the conference board has been thinking intensively and deeply about the ACTA 60 conference, which is planned to be held in the postponed term that we proposed at the beginning of March 2020. The new term was the first week of October 2020 (5th–7th). We hoped, maybe naively, that the Covid-19 situation would be better and clearer than in spring, the virus spreading would be stopped. Although nowadays things have got better than in March, it is not possible to say “it is over”, or to plan such a meeting for this autumn or the next year. We know a lot of participants would not arrive because of closed borders or other measures, such as problems with the boarding ticket and hotel reservations, or just because they do not want to take risks concerning their health. This is the reason why we have decided to cancel the conference for the moment completely, taking into account also the recommendation of the management of the Faculty of Arts, Ostrava University, the main organiser of the conference.
We hope that in spring or summer 2021, the situation will be easier to predict, and we could open a new system for your paper submitting. Today, the only thing we can say is that the conference will be probably held in April/May 2022, if everything goes the right way.
We are aware of the fact that some of you may have already completed the text versions of their contributions. As it has been offered previously, you can submit them to the Acta onomastica journal (indexed in SCOPUS); the text is subject to a review in consistence with the „double blind review process“. If you decide to submit your text, please, send it to z.dvorakova@ujc.cas.cz (Žaneta Dvořáková); include your surname and the abbreviation ACTA 60 in the subject line of your e-mail. The guidelines for the arrangement of manuscripts are available at http://www.ujc.cas.cz/sd/publikace/casopisy/acta-onomastica.html.
During July and August 2020, we will send you back your conference payment.
Thank you for understanding the situation. We apologize for complications. We hope we meet in person as soon as possible.
With kind regards,
Jaroslav David, Faculty of Arts, University of Ostrava (Chair of the Conference Committee)
